Implementasi inovasi stimulus oral untuk meningkatkan reflek hisap pada bayi di rumah sakit baladhika husada jember
Abstract
Low Birth Weight (LBW) infants have a high risk of experiencing impaired sucking reflex which results in delayed nutritional fulfillment. Weak sucking reflex is often found in premature infants and full-term infants who experience dysmaturity, even without central nervous system disorders. One effective and safe intervention is oral stimulation. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of oral stimulus innovation in improving sucking reflex ability in LBW infants.The study used a case study design on LBW infants of 39 weeks gestation who experienced weak sucking reflex. Oral stimulus intervention was given for 4 consecutive days twice a day. The techniques used included perioral massage, intraoral stimulation, and non-nutritive sucking. Evaluation was carried out using a sucking reflex parameter observation sheet.After the intervention, there was a significant increase in the strength, rhythm, frequency, and coordination of the sucking reflex. The infant's response to stimulation increased and there was an increase in body weight from 2290 grams to 2410 grams. Oral stimulus innovation has been proven effective in increasing the sucking reflex in LBW infants and can be used as a nursing intervention to support nutritional fulfillment in neonates.
