Abstract

Vocational high school students need practical financial competence to manage the transition from school to work, particularly amid intensive use of digital financial services. This community empowerment program aimed to strengthen financial literacy, financial risk awareness, and basic financial planning skills among students of SMK Negeri 3 Kolaka Utara. The program employed five stages: socialization, training, technology application, mentoring and evaluation, and sustainability planning. Training covered the 50-30-20 budgeting method, needs versus wants, saving, basic investment, emergency funds, illegal online lending risks, safe use of e-wallets, and simple financial planning. Evaluation used 15 knowledge items and five self-assessment statements with 13 participants who completed paired pre- and post-tests. The mean knowledge score increased from 49.23% to 93.33%, a gain of 44.10 percentage points or 89.58% relatively. All participants improved, and the proportion achieving at least 70% increased from 7.69% to 100%. The risk and digital finance domain reached 85.71% at post-test, while self-assessment increased from 3.51 to 4.02 on a five-point scale. These results indicate strong immediate learning gains, although continued mentoring is needed to strengthen transaction-recording habits and selected risk concepts
