Focus and Scope
ELLITE: Journal of English Language, Literature, and Teaching is a peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal dedicated to advancing global knowledge and academic discourse across the disciplines of English language studies, linguistics, literature, and English language teaching (ELT). In alignment with the COPE Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing, the journal clearly defines its aims, disciplinary boundaries, and readership to ensure that authors, reviewers, and readers have a transparent understanding of its scholarly mission. ELLITE provides an inclusive academic platform for researchers, educators, practitioners, and scholars to publish original empirical research articles, theoretical analyses, case studies, research reports, methodological innovations, material and curriculum developments, and comprehensive critical reviews. Furthermore, the journal upholds the foundational values of accountability, fairness, equity, integrity, stewardship, and transparency as articulated in the COPE Core Principles to foster responsible, reproducible, and ethical scholarly communication.
Disciplinary Scopes and Fields of Interest
1. English Language and Linguistics: Authors are encouraged to submit original manuscripts exploring both theoretical (micro) and applied or interdisciplinary (macro) linguistics. Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to, phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics, alongside sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, discourse analysis, critical discourse studies, corpus linguistics, forensic linguistics, cognitive linguistics, language acquisition, bilingualism/multilingualism, and translation or interpreting studies. All linguistic research involving human subjects, language informants, or community recordings must strictly adhere to international standards of research ethics and participant protection in accordance with COPE's guidelines on Ethical Oversight, which encompass policies on informed consent to publication, the ethical conduct of research on vulnerable populations, and the safeguarding of human rights and privacy.
2. English Literature and Cultural Studies: ELLITE welcomes critical and analytical manuscripts examining English literature—encompassing British, American, Australian, Postcolonial, World Englishes, and Anglophone diasporic literatures—viewed from diverse theoretical, historical, and interdisciplinary perspectives. Topics of interest include literary theory and criticism, comparative literature, gender and feminist studies, ecocriticism, cultural studies, film and media adaptations, digital humanities, and contemporary literary phenomena. When analyzing literary works, archival texts, or multimedia adaptations, contributors must respect copyright regulations, fair use doctrines, and proper attribution standards as emphasized in COPE's Core Practice on Intellectual Property to protect the legal and moral rights of original creators and prevent any form of plagiarism or copyright infringement.
3. English Language Teaching (ELT) and Pedagogy: The journal publishes empirical and practical manuscripts addressing the teaching and learning of English across all educational levels—from early childhood, primary, and secondary education to higher education, adult learning, and vocational contexts (EFL, ESL, ESP, and EAP). Fields of interest cover instructional media and digital technology integration (CALL, MALL, and AI in language education), teaching and learning strategies, curriculum and syllabus design, material development, language testing and assessment, learner individual differences (motivation, anxiety, autonomy, and learning styles), teacher professional development, and best classroom practices. To ensure the validity and objectivity of pedagogical interventions and educational material evaluations, authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that might inappropriately bias their findings, adhering strictly to COPE's guidance on Conflicts of Interest.
Publication Ethics, Peer Review, and Open Access Commitment
Every manuscript submitted to ELLITE undergoes an initial editorial screening for scope alignment and originality, followed by a rigorous, impartial evaluation conducted by independent subject-matter experts in strict compliance with COPE's Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers and the journal's transparent Peer Review Processes. To ensure fair credit and academic accountability, all listed contributors must meet the substantial scholarly criteria defined in COPE's policies on Authorship and Contributorship and the COPE Glossary of Publication Ethics, ensuring that no guest, gift, or ghost authorship occurs. Furthermore, the editorial board actively screens submissions against plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, redundant publication, and citation manipulation, and resolves any pre-publication or post-publication ethical breaches by following COPE's framework on Allegations of Misconduct and COPE's guidelines on Cooperation between Research Institutions and Journals on Research Integrity Cases. As an Open Access journal, ELLITE ensures that all published articles are immediately and permanently free to read, download, and share worldwide, while clearly stating licensing and copyright terms in full compliance with COPE's Best Practice Guidelines for Open Access and Licensing.
