Authorship Criteria

Authorship Criteria for Jurnal sport-mu

To maintain the highest standards of academic integrity, Jurnal sport-mu adheres strictly to the ethical guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). According to COPE, authorship can refer to individuals or groups that create an idea or develop the publication that disseminates that intellectual or creative work. We require all submitting authors to fully understand and comply with these foundational principles before submitting their manuscript to our journal.

All individuals listed as authors must meet the fundamental requirements of legitimate authorship. COPE's international standards state that the authorship of research publications should accurately reflect individuals' contributions to the work and its reporting. To be credited as an author in Jurnal sport-mu, individuals must have made substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work, or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data. Furthermore, they must be actively involved in drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content, give final approval of the version to be published, and agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work.

Jurnal sport-mu strictly prohibits unacceptable and unethical authorship practices. Gift authorship, where a person is named an author but has made no or only an insubstantial contribution to the research or article, is strictly forbidden. Similarly, we do not permit ghost authorship, which occurs when individuals who meet accepted authorship criteria are not listed as authors. Any contributing individuals who provided assistance, funding, or administrative support but do not meet the full criteria for formal authorship must be acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section instead.

To prevent misunderstandings and conflicts during the publication process, communication among researchers is essential. COPE advises that authors should discuss authorship when planning research, agree on authorship in writing, and revisit the agreement during the research. In the event of an authorship dispute, the editorial board of Jurnal sport-mu will not act as an adjudicator, but will instead follow standard COPE flowcharts and protocols to help institutions resolve the issue. Ultimately, all authors are expected to take joint responsibility for the integrity of the research and its reporting, ensuring that publications follow the principles set out in these ethical guidelines.
