Establishment and Early Governance (2020): Jurnal Sport-Mu officially commenced its publication history in June 2020 with the release of Volume 1 Number 1. The journal was initially built using Open Journal Systems (OJS) 2 hosted at https://jurnal.unmuhjember.ac.id/index.php/sportmu/index to serve as an academic outlet for research in physical education, sports science, and human movement studies. From its inception, the operational workflows were designed to follow the foundational principles set forth in the COPE Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing.
National Accreditation and Indexing Milestones (2021–2024): Demonstrating a commitment to publishing standards, peer-review quality, and consistency, Jurnal Sport-Mu earned official national accreditation, achieving SINTA 5 status valid for a five-year period from 2021 through 2026. During this growth phase, the editorial board expanded the journal's indexing coverage to include Google Scholar, Garuda (Garba Rujukan Digital), Crossref (allocating persistent DOIs for all published articles), and Dimensions. These governance improvements aligned strictly with recommendations from the COPE Core Practices regarding metadata archiving, review workflows, and editorial independence.
Platform Migration, Template Revision, and Language Policy Shift (Volume 6 No 1): Marking a milestone in its technical infrastructure and internationalization efforts, Jurnal Sport-Mu completed a full platform migration from OJS 2 to OJS 3 starting from Volume 6 Number 1, moving its active portal to https://ejurnal.unmuhjember.ac.id/index.php/sportmu. Concurrent with this migration, the editorial board released a modernized article template to improve layout consistency and enacted a major policy transition to exclusively accept manuscripts in full English to increase global reach and citation potential.
Current Good Governance and Quality Oversight (Present): Today, Jurnal Sport-Mu continues to uphold rigorous publication ethics through double-blind peer review, mandatory similarity checks, transparent Article Processing Charges (APC) policies, and clear guidelines for research involving human subjects. All operational and editorial activities adhere to ethical standards anchored in the COPE Core Principles, ensuring scientific integrity, digital preservation, and long-term value for the scientific community.
