About the Journal

Overview & Publisher Identification: Sport-Mu: Jurnal Pendidikan Olahraga is an open-access, double-blind peer-reviewed journal published by Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember and academically managed by the Program Studi Pendidikan Jasmani (Department of Physical Education). Established in June 2020 with its inaugural Volume 1 Number 1, the journal serves as a dedicated platform for researchers, academics, and sports practitioners to disseminate high-quality empirical studies and theoretical advancements in physical education and sports science. All publishing operations are guided by the COPE Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing.

 

Focus and Core Scope: The journal publishes original research articles, systematic reviews, and conceptual papers covering a broad range of physical education and sports disciplines. Key thematic areas include:
  • Physical Education Pedagogy, Curriculum Development, and Instructional Innovation
  • Sports Biomechanics, Kinematics, and Human Movement Analysis
  • Exercise Physiology, Fitness Assessment, and Health Promotion
  • Sports Psychology, Character Building, and Islamic Values in Physical Activity

Accreditation and Technical Evolution: Demonstrating its commitment to scientific quality and publishing standards, Sport-Mu has achieved national accreditation from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, securing SINTA 5 status valid for five years (2021–2026). Initially operating on OJS 2 at https://jurnal.unmuhjember.ac.id/index.php/sportmu/index, the journal completed a major system upgrade starting from Volume 6 Number 1. It now operates on OJS 3 at its official domain https://ejurnal.unmuhjember.ac.id/index.php/sportmu, featuring an updated article layout template and enacting an internationalization policy that exclusively accepts manuscripts written in full English.

 

Publishing Ethics and Governance: Under the management of the Department of Physical Education at Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember, Sport-Mu enforces rigorous editorial control and peer-review workflows. The journal requires mandatory plagiarism screening, explicit ethical approval for studies involving human subjects, clear disclosure of potential conflicts of interest, and transparent publication policies. All governance procedures strictly align with the ethical recommendations provided in the COPE Core Practices and COPE Core Principles to guarantee research integrity and long-term academic preservation.
