Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
INSIGHT: Jurnal Pemikiran dan Penelitian Psikologi recognizes the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, including Large Language Models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT, in the academic landscape. To maintain the integrity, transparency, and accountability of published psychological research, our policies regarding the use of AI are strictly guided by the Core Practices and position statements of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
-
AI and Authorship: Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, Large Language Models (LLMs), or chatbots cannot be listed as authors under any circumstances because they cannot assume ethical, legal, or public accountability for the published work, firmly aligning with the COPE position statement on AI tools in research publications.
-
AI Usage Limits and Active Screening: The journal enforces a strict maximum limit of 30% for AI-generated text in any submitted manuscript, which will be rigorously verified using AI and similarity detection software such as Turnitin or iThenticate, supported by a well-described, transparent infrastructure for journal management.
-
Transparency and Disclosure: Authors who utilize AI tools for data analysis, writing assistance, translation, or image generation must explicitly disclose the name of the tool, its version, and how it was used within the Methodology or Acknowledgments section of the manuscript, strictly following the COPE guidelines on transparent policies for data and reproducibility.
-
Author Accountability for AI Content: Human authors remain entirely responsible for the scientific accuracy, integrity, and originality of their submitted manuscripts, meaning they must verify all AI-generated text or data to prevent hallucinations and plagiarism, in strict accordance with the COPE Core Practices for authorship and contributorship.
-
AI in the Peer Review Process: To protect authors' intellectual property, peer reviewers and editors are strictly prohibited from uploading any part of an unpublished manuscript into AI platforms for evaluation or summarization, as this violates the mandate that all peer review processes must be safeguarded to maintain strict confidentiality.
-
Handling AI-Related Misconduct: If an author is found to have deceptively used AI to fabricate data, manipulate images, or plagiarize content without proper declaration, the journal will immediately halt publication and initiate a formal investigation, rigorously following the COPE directives for handling allegations of misconduct.
