Conflict of Interest Policy

1. Policy Overview

INSIGHT: Jurnal Pemikiran dan Penelitian Psikologi is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics, transparency, and integrity. To prevent bias and preserve public trust in published scholarly work, all participants in the publication process—including authors, peer reviewers, and editors—must declare any potential financial, personal, or professional competing interests that could influence or appear to influence the manuscript evaluation or publication process.

2. Ethical Framework and COPE Guidelines

This policy adheres to the international ethical standards established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE):

  1. Definition of Competing Interests:

"Competing interests (or conflicts of interest) exist when there are financial, personal, or professional relationships that may influence, or appear to influence, an individual's objectivity, judgment, or actions in the context of research or publication."

  2. Mandatory Author Declarations:

"Authors must declare all relevant competing interests—financial or non-financial—that might be perceived as influencing the research, interpretation, or presentation of their manuscript upon submission."

  3. Handling Undisclosed Conflicts of Interest:

"If an undisclosed conflict of interest is identified after submission or publication, editors must follow standard COPE protocols to investigate the matter and determine whether an edit, correction, or retraction is required."

  4. Peer Reviewer and Editorial Recusal:

"Editors and peer reviewers must recuse themselves from handling or evaluating manuscripts if they have any personal, financial, or professional conflicts of interest related to the authors or content."

3. Responsibilities of Participants

  • Authors: Must submit a Conflict of Interest statement during the submission process. All funding sources, financial sponsors, and non-financial relationships (e.g., academic affiliations, personal relationships) relevant to the work must be explicitly acknowledged. If no conflict exists, authors must state: "The authors declare that they have no competing interests."
  • Reviewers: Must decline to review a manuscript if they have a financial, personal, or collaborative relationship with any of the authors or institutions associated with the submission.
  • Editors & Board Members: Must recuse themselves from editorial decisions on manuscripts authored by themselves, family members, or close colleagues, or on papers related to products/services in which they have a financial interest. An independent editor will manage the review process for such submissions.

4. Post-Publication Actions

If an undisclosed conflict of interest is reported after publication, the journal will initiate an inquiry following COPE flowcharts. Depending on the outcome, the journal may publish a Corrigendum, an Expression of Concern, or, in severe cases of misconduct, issue a Notice of Retraction.
