Publication Ethics

INSIGHT: Jurnal Pemikiran dan Penelitian Psikologi (published by Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember) is committed to upholding the highest standards of scientific integrity and publication ethics. This statement outlines the ethical behavior expected from all parties involved in the publication process: the Author, the Editor, the Peer Reviewer, and the Publisher.

Our ethical principles are strictly adapted from and firmly adhere to the Core Practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Duties of Authors

  • Authorship and Contributorship: Authorship must be strictly limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported psychological research, fully complying with the COPE guidelines on authorship and contributorship.

  • Originality and Plagiarism (Allegations of Misconduct): Authors must ensure that their submitted work is entirely original, and any form of plagiarism, data fabrication, or falsification will be actively investigated according to the COPE directives on handling allegations of misconduct.

  • Ethical Oversight: Because this journal publishes psychological studies often involving human participants, authors must explicitly state that their research complies with ethical standards and informed consent protocols, adhering to COPE's principles on ethical oversight.

  • Data Access and Retention: Authors are encouraged to adopt transparent policies for data availability and may be asked to provide raw data for editorial review, in alignment with the COPE guidelines on data and reproducibility.

  • Disclosure and Competing Interests: All authors must explicitly disclose any financial, personal, or substantive conflicts of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript, complying with COPE’s policy on competing interests.

2. Duties of Editors

  • Fair Play and Journal Management: The Editorial Board evaluates manuscripts exclusively for their intellectual merit without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, or political philosophy, supported by a transparent infrastructure as recommended by the COPE guidelines on journal management.

  • Handling Allegations of Misconduct: Editors will take reasonably responsive measures when ethical complaints or concerns are raised regarding a submitted manuscript or published paper, rigorously following the COPE process for handling allegations of misconduct.

  • Complaints and Appeals: The journal is committed to providing a transparent, fair, and objective mechanism for authors to address editorial disputes, strictly adhering to the COPE standards for complaints and appeals.

  • Post-Publication Discussions and Corrections: The editors welcome post-publication debate and will willingly publish corrections, clarifications, retractions, or expressions of concern when necessary to preserve the scholarly record, in alignment with COPE rules on post-publication discussions and corrections.

3. Duties of Reviewers

  • Peer Review Integrity and Confidentiality: Peer reviewers assist the editor in making editorial decisions and must treat all reviewed manuscripts as confidential documents while evaluating them objectively, strictly following the COPE ethical guidelines for peer reviewers.

  • Reviewer Conflicts of Interest: Reviewers must decline the invitation to review any manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other connections with any of the authors or institutions, consistent with COPE standards on competing interests.
