Post Publication Discussion

1. Policy Overview

INSIGHT: Jurnal Pemikiran dan Penelitian Psikologi is committed to maintaining the permanent, accurate, and transparent record of scholarly literature. Publication does not mark the end of scientific inquiry. Therefore, the journal provides mechanisms for post-publication discussion, critique, and, when necessary, corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern regarding published work.

2. Ethical Standards and Reference to COPE Guidelines

This policy is formulated in accordance with the ethical standards established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE):

  1. Commitment to Post-Publication Discussion:

"Journals must allow post-publication debate, either through letters to the editor or dedicated online forums, to enable the academic community to respond to and critique published articles."

  2. Handling Post-Publication Critiques and Responses:

"When post-publication critiques or letters to the editor are submitted, editors should give authors the opportunity to respond before publication, ensuring a balanced and constructive scientific dialogue."

  3. Corrections and Amendment Standards:

"If an error or omission is identified in a published article that does not render the findings invalid, editors should issue a formal Correction (Erratum or Corrigendum) as soon as possible."

  4. Retraction Guidelines:

"Editors should consider retracting a publication if they have clear evidence that the findings are unreliable, whether as a result of major error, misconduct, data fabrication, or plagiarism."

3. Mechanisms for Post-Publication Discussion

  • Letters to the Editor / Formal Commentary: Readers and researchers are invited to submit critical commentary or feedback regarding published articles. Submissions should be submitted directly via the OJS portal or emailed to insight@unmuhjember.ac.id.

  • Author Response: Authors of the original paper will be notified of any substantive critique and given the opportunity to provide a formal response. Both the commentary and the author's response may be peer-reviewed and published together to promote transparent academic debate.

4. Post-Publication Corrections and Retractions

When errors, omissions, or allegations of misconduct arise post-publication, the journal follows these standard procedures:

  • Correction (Erratum / Corrigendum): Issued if a minor honest error, calculation mistake, or formatting issue is identified that does not invalidate the study's overall conclusions.

  • Expression of Concern: Published if there is inconclusive evidence of research or publication misconduct, or if an institutional investigation is pending.

  • Retraction: Executed if clear evidence shows that the main findings are unsupportable due to major errors, data fabrication/falsification, severe plagiarism, or unethical practice, following the standard COPE Retraction Guidelines.
