Abstract

The progressive dynamics of the labor market demand Generation Z, as the young workforce, to possess a high level of adaptability. One important factor that can support this is psychological capital, which encompasses the dimensions of hope, selfefficacy, resilience, and optimism. Psychological capital serves as a key resource for enduring and striving within the current labor market conditions. This study aims to examine the effect of psychological capital on career adaptability among Generation Z in East Kalimantan within the productive age range (15–28 years). A quantitative approach was employed in this research. The participants consisted of 354 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Career Adapt-Abilities Scale (CAAS) and the Psychological capital Questionnaire (PCQ-24) in the form of a Likert scale, then analyzed through simple linear regression using SPSS. The findings indicate that psychological capital has a significant effect on the career adaptability of Generation Z workers in East Kalimantan (β = 0.651; F = 258.698; p = 0.000), contributing 42.4% to the variation in career adaptability (R² = 0.424). These results imply that the enhancement of career adaptability is influenced by the psychological capital possessed by Generation Z workers in East Kalimantan, thereby supporting their preparedness to face the complex and dynamic changes in the labor market
