Abstract

High school students are generally between the ages of 16 and 18. At this stage, one of the developmental tasks of adolescents is to prepare for a career as part of their future planning. However, in reality, many high school students still have low levels of career planning. One factor that influences this is career self-efficacy. Unlike adolescents who live with their families, adolescents who live in orphanages often face different developmental challenges and psychosocial conditions, which can affect their career self-efficacy and career maturity. Based on this, this study aims to determine the relationship between career self-efficacy and career maturity in high school adolescents living in orphanages in Jember Regency. This study uses a quantitative method with a correlational approach. The sample size in this study was 57 high school adolescents from orphanages, which were selected using a saturated sampling technique. The research instruments consisted of the Career Maturity Scale (43 items, α= 0.892) adapted by Nazma (2021) and the Career Self-Efficacy Scale (22 items, α= 0.892) adapted by Gunawan (2013). The results of the study show a significant relationship between career self-efficacy and career maturity (r = 0.545, p = 0.000). These results indicate that the higher the career self-efficacy of adolescents, the higher their career maturity. Conversely, the lower the career self-efficacy of adolescents, the lower their career maturity.
