Abstract

The behavior of storing things which is considered normal can actually be a symptom of psychological disorders which lead to hoarding disorder. This condition is sometimes not recognized by the individual himself, even though the impact of the symptoms is already felt. This study aims to describe the level of tendencyhoarding disorder in early adulthood.Hoarding disorder is a disorder characterized by difficulty disposing of items, excessive urges to store, and the accumulation of items that can interfere with spatial function and daily life activities. This study used a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. The study respondents were 160 young adults selected using a questionnaire technique.accidental samplingThe research instrument used was the Saving Inventory-Revised (SI-R) which has been translated and adapted into Indonesian (α 0.932). The results of the study showed that the level of tendencyhoarding disorder in early adulthood is relatively high, with a percentage of 53.1%. The most dominant dimension is difficulty discarding andclutter, while the dimensionsacquisition obtained lower scores, although the difference was not significant. Analysis of demographic characteristics showed that the tendencyhoarding disorder It appears across various groups, including age, residential status, marital status, employment status, education level, ethnic background, and female gender, which shows a high tendency. These findings suggest that excessive hoarding behavior can occur in early adulthood, regardless of demographic factors.
