Journal History

Jurnal Manajemen dan Bisnis Indonesia (JMBI) is a scientific journal managed by the Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember. Since its first publication in 2015, JMBI has been committed to serving as a scientific publication platform that facilitates the dissemination of research findings and the advancement of knowledge in the fields of management and business.

From its initial publication period until 2022, JMBI utilized the Open Journal Systems (OJS) version 2 as the journal management platform. In 2020, JMBI improved its article template by emphasizing the importance of the state of the art and novelty in the introduction section. This improvement was intended to encourage authors to present recent developments in research, identify research gaps, and clearly highlight the contribution and originality of their studies. In addition, authors were encouraged to use reference management software for citation and bibliography preparation to improve consistency, accuracy, and academic quality. In 2023, JMBI migrated its journal management system from OJS version 2 to OJS version 3 as part of its continuous effort to develop an electronic-based scientific publishing management system. This transition supported a more structured workflow for manuscript submission, review, and editorial processes. During the 2024–2025 period, JMBI continued its publication activities while strengthening its editorial management system to maintain consistency and improve the quality of published articles.

In 2026, JMBI further enhanced its article template by introducing a Declarations section. This section includes author contributions, funding sources, conflict of interest statements, ethical approval and informed consent, as well as declarations regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI). The addition of this section aims to strengthen transparency, research integrity, and accountability in scientific publishing. The latest template can be accessed at:

Through these continuous improvements, JMBI remains committed to enhancing the quality of journal management and maintaining scientific publishing standards in accordance with the evolving practices and principles of academic publishing.
