Plagiarism Policy

Jurnal Manajemen dan Bisnis Indonesia strictly prohibits any form of plagiarism and upholds the highest standards of academic integrity, in accordance with the COPE Core Practices on Intellectual Property.

1. Definition and Originality

Authors must ensure that they have written entirely original works, and any use of others' work, data, or words must be appropriately cited or quoted, as strictly mandated by the COPE Guidelines on Plagiarism. Furthermore, authors must not engage in text recycling or self-plagiarism, which involves reusing their own previously published work without proper attribution, adhering to the COPE Text Recycling Guidelines.

2. Similarity Screening (Turnitin Requirement)

To prevent academic misconduct, all submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous initial screening for originality before the peer-review process begins. Based on the Rector's Decree of Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember (Surat Keputusan Rektor Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember), the maximum acceptable similarity score for any manuscript checked with Turnitin is 20%. Manuscripts exceeding this 20% similarity threshold will be returned to the authors for revision or directly rejected by the editorial board.

3. Handling Plagiarism Pre-Publication

If suspected plagiarism or unoriginal content is detected during the editorial or peer-review process, the editorial board will immediately halt the review, reject the manuscript, and contact the corresponding author for an explanation, strictly following the COPE Flowchart on Suspected Plagiarism in a Submitted Manuscript. The editorial team assumes the responsibility to thoroughly investigate all allegations of misconduct to ensure that no compromised research enters the academic record, per the COPE Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing.

4. Handling Plagiarism Post-Publication

In cases where plagiarism or severe data manipulation is discovered after an article has already been published, the journal will conduct a formal and transparent investigation. If the allegations of plagiarism are proven true, the journal will take definitive action by issuing a formal retraction of the article, aligning directly with the COPE Retraction Guidelines. In such events, the publisher and editors will act promptly to publish the retraction notice to correct the scholarly literature, as required by the COPE Guidelines for Post-Publication Discussions and Corrections.
